The Australian Junior Matildas team have arrived yesterday and were welcomed by Vanuatu’s U-19 National football team with adorned garlands as symbols of welcome at Bauerfield International Airport. Westfield Matildas coach, Rae Dower said “the team is looking forward to getting to know your beautiful country and getting a taste of your local diet. “But most importantly, we are more excited for the big game on Monday 12 August at Korman Stadium.”

The Matildas team captain Jessika Nash made it clear that no matter the rain, they are self-assured and confident for Monday’s game.

Vanuatu National football team captain, Rita Solomon thanked the Matildas on behalf of the team saying the game will help prepare them for the tournaments.

“Though it will be a tough game considering we have never played against an international team before,” said Rita

“But we are also confident and are looking forward for next week’s game.”
