Olympic Day to be short and fun programme: James Malau

Olympic Day

Olympic Day is an international Olympic Movement activity promoting mass participation of sports held in June organised by National Olympic Committees (NOCs).

For Vanuatu the Olympic Day will be celebrated on Saturday at Korman Cricket grounds.

VASANOC Sports Development officer James Malau said the programme will be short beginning at 7:30am and finishing at 10:30am.

“It will be fun to have everyone run.

“The starting point will be at the Archery area, run behind Korman complex through some dead gravel road, through the bush, come down Pacific suppliers cut through the tennis court area back to the Archery ground,” Malau explained.

The day will begin with registration at 7:30am followed by zumba with Anolyn for one hour before the Olympic run start.

Following the run everyone will report back to the Archery field with more activities plan.

Olympic Day was introduced in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games on June 23, 1894 at the Sorbonne in Paris.
