Ifira Blackbird anticipates a tough final against Ovins men’s rugby side in the Vanuatu rugby Union 40th Independence tournament final at Korman Stadium on July 29.

Ifira won by default over Shepherds in their final round of game at Korman yesterday adding another three points to their tally to top the table after the three consecutive rounds of round robin matches followed by Ovins in second place.

After their 10-8 victory over Ovins in the first round of competition Ifira Coach Kalsavi Kalfau believes it would be a tough battle in the final.

”We beat them in the first round but it was a fifty- fifty game for us but this time it will be the final and we know they will come prepared and it will be a tough match.

”We have rectified our weaknesses from the first round and the boys have been working on it for the final,” Kalfau said.

USP men’s team will play Shepherd for the bronze medal playoff while Ovins takes on Ifira for the gold medal playoff.

In the women’s division Shepherd will play Ovins in the final.

The games will be held at Korman on July 29.
