The Ministry of Education last week on Friday August 23 organised a fundraising at the Ministry to support the national Under 19 girls’ football team.

MoE Director General, Bergmans Iati, said the fundraising is to assist the girls in their sporting careers.

The DG said the support comes after the team’s match earlier this month against the Matildas from Australia.

“There was a video of Vanuatu’s Captain, Rita Solomon, that spread through Facebook.

“We were deeply touched by her words and figured we should do something to support the girls since most of their parents work at the Ministry.

“By the end of this month, the girls will travel to Cook Islands to play against the Cook Islands team, we hope this fundraising can help them, so they can be reassured that both the Ministry of Education along with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the rest of the people have their full support.”

The money raised during the fundraising was an equivalent amount of Vt94,500 given to the Vanuatu Women’s Football Team.
