Yesterday I was one of the lucky ones repatriated from New Zealand on the RNZAF Hercules and am now in quarantine for 14 days.

I wanted to write to express my appreciation to all the organisations, groups of people and individuals ( including Government, Public Service, Health, Police and Security, Customs and Immigration, Vanuatu High Commission, bus drivers, accommodation providers and staff, airport staff, New Zealand Air Force and MFAT) and of course the people of Vanuatu for their fantastic combined effort to make this repatriation work.

I have been ‘coming home’ from Solomon Islands since Sunday 22 March and by the time quarantine is finished I will have been on my own in hotels for nearly three months.

Everyone has been very kind and supportive and I think the level of organisation from Vanuatu to get us back has been stunning.

It is very easy to criticise when things do not go exactly according to plan and often we do not give thanks when they are due to the appropriate people.

Thank you everybody for getting us back and for keeping Vanuatu COVID-19 free.

Cheers

Chris
