Dear Editor,

The shops are relieved that lockdown is eased in some areas at least before Christmas and even in this weather they are busy.

It’s a time when for many people to be jolly means drink and sales of alcohol are booming.

The snag is that the high you get from booze only lasts a short time and often engenders fighting and abuse. The real and lasting high of the Christmas spirit comes from the one who started it when he came into the world that first Christmas Day.

His name is Christ Jesus. He’s the only one who gives joy, deep down and lasting, through thick and thin whatever your circumstances.

He’s the real reason for the season and He’s only a prayer away.
