Dear Daily Post Editor,

It was extremely disappointing to see the DP issue of 20 June, 2020, include a disgraceful and extremely racist Kranki Kona cartoon that is essentially describing people of colour as having an incurable ‘disease of blackness.’ As an indigenous Melanesian and ni-Vanuatu, I find DP’s publication of this not only irresponsible and insensitive to people across Vanuatu, but also unacceptable at a time when the world is quite rightly rallying for an end to racism and recognition of the dignity of diversity.

I sincerely hope that your publication issues a public apology for what I hope was merely an editorial oversight.

Sincerely,

Anna Naupa
