Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office, Gregoire Nimbtik, has handed VT176,500 to the Vanuatu Society for Disabled People (VSDP).
The donation was made at the PM’s office yesterday.
DG Nimbtik said the amount was raised during a dinner organized by the Prime Minister Charlot Salwai at the Convention Center for Kassav’.
”All the guests who were invited for the dinner raised a total amount mentioned,” he said.
“Today on behalf of the Prime Minister i am handing it over to the VSDP.”.
He acknowledged everyone who contributed to the fundraiser.
”On behalf of the Office of the Prime Minister and Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television of Vanuatu i would to thank everyone”, he said.
In his response, Elison Bovu, Executive Director of VSDP said there is a huge difference between this government and past governments who neglected VSDP.
”VSDP is a small NGO but it has been working in the country for a very long time. Today, the society is now visible to the government and disability is part of its National Development plan,” Mr Bovu added.
He thanked everyone who contributed with their hearts for this cause and said the funds will be used in their programs.
