On 6 October 2020, the Director of Education, Mr John Gideon handed over keys of 4 double classrooms and a staff house to Principals of 3 primary schools in Teouma on Efate.

The total value of works on these schools is VT65 million and is funded by The World Bank.

The ceremony was witnessed by Chapman Mogeror (Construction Supervisor, MoET), Patterson Saru and Solip Nato (Engineers, Mainguy Consulting Ltd) and Dorothy Hamish (Senior Project Officer, VIRIP).

The works involved construction of 4 x Double Classroom and Office and 1 x Staff House, 3 x 6000L water tank, tank stand, piping, guttering, soakaway and stand pipes and Provisional sum items for retrofit works.

The classrooms are capable of being used as a Safe Shelters for the entire community during an emergency like a cyclone.

Works have been planned and programmed by the Ministry of Education and Training in accordance with their systems and involved significant consultation with provincial authorities and communities.
