So far six suspects in connection to the death of a young student of Lycee de Luganville have been arrested and remanded at the Luganville Correctional Centre.
The body of the Year 10 student was discovered floating in Sarakata River, Luganville, last month.
Police Media Unit confirmed that a post-mortem was performed on the deceased on June 26. The autopsy was to determine the exact cause of the student’s death.
The six suspects are remanded awaiting a Preliminary Inquiry (PI) in court. Possible charges that are to to be laid against them include; (1) Intentional harm causing death, (2) Intentional Homicide.
Police is appealing to the public, students in particular, to always take extra care when they are staying with their friends. Students are also reminded to always inform their parents of their whereabouts.
Students who are residing in schools are advised to never leave school boundaries, or if necessary, inform the school authorities.
Investigation into this tragic death is ongoing.
