September 17 — Public Holiday for Luganville

President Obed Moses Tallis has declared September 17, 2019 a Public Holiday for all registered voters who are eligible to vote in the Luganville Municipality election.

The Head of State made the declaration in exercise of powers conferred on him by section 2 of the Public Holidays Act (CAP 114), acting on the advice of the Prime Minister.

A total of 71 candidates have applied to contest for the 13 seats in the election.

Political campaigns are underway and will close at midnight on Saturday, September 14.
