The SANMA Provincial political campaign will end today midnight after the two weeks of campaign by politicians and their supporters.
SANMA Provincial political campaigns commenced last month (31st of December 2019) and will run through to January 13, 2020, three days before the polling day on January 16, 2020.
Santo constituency has 95 candidates that will be contesting for 15 seats while Malo/Aore have seven candidates vying for three seats.
A total of 103 candidates will be contesting in the election for 18 seats as announced by the Electoral Commission.
The Electoral Commission has declared that 16th January is a public holiday for voters in SANMA province.
The Electoral Commission said this will allow eligible voters within this constituencies to exercise their rights in voting for the 103 candidates approved to contest in the upcoming election. In accordance to the Public Holiday Act, section 2 [CAP 114], the President, acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, has declared that the date, 16th January as a public holiday for all registered voters who are eligible to vote in the election of the SANMA Provincial Council.
Accordingly, the 25,861 registered voters of Santo constituency and 3,620 registered voters for Malo/Aore will go to provincial poll three days from now.
