All departments under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MALFFB) have decided to share human and financial resources in the implementation of their activities.

This was agreed in a recent meeting bringing together all directors and other senior officers, to review last year’s budget and plan for next year’s budget.

Director General (DG) of the MALFFB, Moses Amos, said they have agreed at a format linking all sector activities to the ministry’s corporate plan objectives.

The ministry is focusing on tapping into certain significant areas to increase production and support livelihoods such as agriculture mechanization and investing in the timber industry, particularly cordia, red pine and coconut which has never been fully utilized before.

All directors of the various department under MALFFB have recognised biosecurity as one of the cross-cutting challenges to hindering increase production, he stressed.

They are also willing to share human and financial resources when it comes to biosecurity, he conveyed.
