PM requests x-ray for seasonal workers’ medical checkups on Tanna

Minister of Health Bule assured the PM that the MoH will consider his request for an x-ray machine to be installed at Lenakel Hospital

A request was made by the Prime Minister (PM), Bob Loughman, to senior health officials to get an x-ray machine that will reduce transportation costs for seasonal workers traveling from Tanna to Port Vila for medical checkup.

He made the request to the Minister of Health, Silas Bule, Director General (DG) of the Ministry of Health (MoH), Russel Tamata, Director of the Department of Public Health, Len Tarivonda, and Director of the Department of Policy and Planning, Samuel Posikai, during a recent occasion on Tanna.

"A lot of locals from Tanna are participating in the seasonal workers programme.

"They spent a lot of money to travel from Tanna to Port Vila just to undergo medical checkups," he stressed.

General Health Services Manager at Lenakel Hospital, Robert Moise, conveyed that the hospital has an x-ray machine but it does not function.

The Minister of Health assured the PM that his request will be considered.

Director Tarivonda said the ministry has plans to install x-ray machines not only at Lenakel Hospital but other hospitals throughout the country.
