Prime Minister (PM), Bob Loughman, has handed over a new ambulance and double cabin vehicle (G-978) to the Lenakel Hospital on Tanna.
A delegation comprising of the Minister of Health, Silas Bule, Director General (DG) of the MoH, Russel Tamata, Directors of Public Health and Policy Planning traveled to Tanna to witness the handing over.
Other high government officials that are accompanying the PM on his tour on the island were also present and staff of the TAFEA’s main referral hospital.
Minister Bule commended the staff of the Lenakel Hospital for their commitment and courage for serving the health needs of the people of TAFEA.
PM Loughman urged the Lenakel Hospital management to take good care of the vehicles so that it could be serviceable for a long time.
The ambulance will be used in emergencies while G-978 will be used for administrative purposes.
The ambulance was provided through the assistance of development partners while G-978 was bought by the government at around Vt4 million, according to Director of Public Health, Len Tarivonda.
