NDMO Director advises public not to spread rumours

Director of NDMO, Abraham Nasak

Director of National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), Abraham Nasak, has cautioned members of the public to refrain from speculation and spreading rumours on social media, but rely on official information from the Government.

This week, rumours have been circulating on social media, particularly on Facebook that Port Vila will undergo a full lockdown as Vanuatu prepares to receive its citizens returning home under the repatriation plan.

Director Nasak did not deny nor confirm a possible lockdown, but explained that decisions will be made official only when the Minister of Climate Change approves and signs them off.

Until then, there is nothing official, thus public are urged to stop spreading false information via social media.
