Natonga refutes allegations of another scholarship award list

Chairman of the National Scholarship and Training Board (NSTB), Collin Natonga, has refuted allegations of another scholarship award list.

These allegations were conveyed by the Opposition in a press conference.

It’s a big worry that these new scholarships might not be merit based awards, said the Opposition Leader, Ralph Regenvanu.

“If it’s true, we strongly urge the government to restrain from awarding scholarships based on political affiliations or family connections.”

In his response, Natonga said: “There is no separate list.

“The board has approved only two lists; one for the government sponsored students and the other for the Member’s Education Support Scheme (MESS).

“All recipients are selected through the same process and same criteria but not politics.”
