National Election Date Announced, SANMA Provincial Election Date Changed

The Electoral Commission and the Electoral Office wish to announce that the SANMA Provincial Government Council (PGC) election logistical arrangements including polling date have been changed.

Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Martin Tete confirmed that the main reason behind these changes is to allow more room for a further update of the electoral rolls and IDs within areas which were not covered during the most recent update within SANMA constituencies. 

The Electoral Commission chairman is pleased to present on behalf of the Electoral Commission the following:

The SANMA PGC election logistical arrangements including polling date:

1)         Starting Date for Lodging of Candidature Application Forms: 3 December 2019.

2)         Closing Date for 2019 Electoral Registration Within Sanma PGC: 4 December 2019

3)         Closing Date for Candidature Application Forms: 17 December 2019.

4)         Declaration of Qualified Candidates to Contest Sanma PGC Election: 30 December 2019.

5)         Closing Date for Lodging of Proxy Application Forms Including Duplicate Electoral Cards: 2 January 2020.

6)         Political Campaign Commences on: 30 December 2019 and will close at 12 midnight on 13 January 2020.

7)         Polling Date: 16 January 2020.

The 2020 Parliamentary general election logistical arrangements including polling date:

1)         Starting date for lodging of The Candidature Application Forms: 21 January 2020.

2)         Closing Date for The Lodging of Candidature Application Forms: 11 February 2020.

3)         Closing date for 2020 electoral registration: 12 February 2020.

4)         Declaration of Qualified Candidates for Parliament General Election: 2 March 2020.

5)         Political Campaign Commences On: 2 March 2020 and will close at 12 midnight on 16 March 2020.

6)         Closing Date for Lodging of Proxy Application Forms Including Duplicate Electoral Cards: 4 March 2020.

7)         Polling Date: 19 March 2020.
