The Opposition bloc’s motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Charlot Salwai, will be debated in Parliament at 2pm today.

On the question of the number of MPs required to support the motion to remove Prime Minister Charlot Salwai, the Leader of Opposition said despite the past five motions which were defeated by the government, this motion expresses the dissatisfaction of the people of Vanuatu on issues facing the country.

“We have changed the nature of the motion in that it aims to express concerns by the people on matters affecting the country and the life of the people,” said MP Ishmael Kalsakau.

“While it may not have the support of the majority of the MPs, it will express dissatisfaction in the Prime Minister and the handling of issues affecting the country by the Government.

The Government commanded the usual majority of MPs on its side when Parliament adjourned yesterday afternoon.

The people of Vanuatu will know whether or not the government continues to command the majority when parliament meets this afternoon.
