More vehicles detained

Law enforcement officers detained at least 90 vehicles during the Operations Sweep 40 last weekend.

Operations Sweep 40 is a joint operation comprising of Vanuatu Police Force (VPF), Port Vila City Council, Customs department, Shefa Provincial officers and Vanuatu Immigration Services with the aim to ensure a safer Port Vila during weekends.

Execution of tasks included traffic checks, drive checks, updated licensing of liquor sales and kava bars. There were also police security mobile patrols, disbursing of crowds in public places, attend to reports, static Patrols, Beat Patrols. Officers also monitored nightclubs operating hours.

Combined enforcement security mobile and beat patrols has been conducted throughout Port Vila, revealing Police presence and assist frontline officers on call outs.

VPF will continue to execute its duties during the operation this weekend.

Police is appealing to the general public around Port Vila and surrounding villages and around Efate including offshore islands, to continue to maintain peace during this 40th Anniversary celebrations.

The community leaders are asked to work together with the Police to make sure our people are safe at all times.
