The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity, Matai Seremaiah will accompany the body of late Sione Tolish Yapyap in an early morning flight to his home island of Malekula today.
The Minister is being accompanied by his Director General, Moses Amos and the Acting Director of Forestry, Godfrey Bome. The late Yapyap to be buried in his home village in South West Bay.
Late Yapyap was the victim of a tragic car crash which occurred close to Tamate river last Friday.
The vehicle was returning back to Port Vila from Gideon’s Landing in North Efate after a joint Christmas function of both the MALFFB and the Ministry of Trade, Tourism, Commerce, Industry and Ni-Vanuatu Business.
Late Yapyap was a student from Malekula studying at the University of the South Pacific (USP) and undertaking internship with the Department of Forestry (DoF) when he lost his life in the fatal car crash.
The vehicle involved belongs to the REDD+ Project under the department of Forestry and had four other passengers who also sustained injuries.
At a ceremony yesterday afternoon, the Director General of MALFFB, Moses Amos led his Ministry to hand over the coffin purchased by the Ministry to accommodate the body of the late victim to his family at the Vila Central Hospital Mortuary.
