A woman and her grandchild have died after the white minivan they were travelling on veered off course near the USP roundabout and crashed outside the Computer World shop yesterday afternoon.
Police say there were only three passengers – a couple from Emau and their grandchild – in the vehicle.
The woman’s husband, who was driving at the time is injured but his condition has stabilised.
Police confirmed to Daily Post yesterday that this was the second serious road accident over the weekend.
The first happened in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police say a young man who is part Erakor and Pentecost died in a fatal hit-and-run near the bus stop at USP.
According to police, he was heading home after clubbing when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle.
Police are appealing to members of the public who may have more information on the fatal hit-and-run to contact them.
