Emergency radio network tests on Sola

As part of the ongoing upgrade works on Vanuatu’s emergency radio network, a series of tests were conducted and observed by a delegation on Sola, TORBA Province last Friday.

Led by the Acting Commissioner of Police, Colonel Robson Iavro, the delegation comprised the Australian Defense Attaché, VAPJP Commander and technical officials from the Australian Defense Force, undertook the tests purposely to observe the daily communication between Sola, Aneityum, Epi, Loh and Port Vila. The President of TORBA Province and the Acting Police Commissioner were briefed on how the communications project would operate. The Australian Government and Vanuatu Government are working in collaboration to improve the inter-island emergency radio network.

Police officers on Sola had the opportunity to undergo emergency antenna training, conducted by the Australian defense personnel.

The Commander VAPJAP also handed over an emergency generator to the Police Station during the brief tour.
