Drivers urged to respect road signs

The Police Traffic Unit is strongly urging drivers to respect road signs, to avoid accidents and putting lives at risk.

Senior Sergeant Edward Kalura from the Port Vila Traffic Unit made the statement after a recent road accident which was the result of ignoring road signs.

It involved two buses in Port Vila. One was heading straight down the Rue Bouganville Street, from the Cathedral to Chew Store and the driver did not stop to give way to the other bus at the intersection. The accident resulted in damaged vehicles and arrests.

Sergeant Kalura stressed drivers must start respecting road signs.

”Disrespecting road signs can lead to accidents, putting the lives of both passengers and pedestrians at risk,” he added.
