Over 30 people in Nakere village, South Santo recently underwent a 2-day training on Good Governance Ethics & Integrity; Financial Literacy & Business Management; Possible Business Opportunities and Starting and Managing your Business.
The training was conducted by Chairlady of the New Zealand/Vanuatu Alumni Network (NZ/VAN), Dr Andrina KL Thomas on Tuesday and Wednesday 8th and 9th of October 2019. The 38 participants were taught the concept of good governance, ethical and integrity standards to support their community and business affairs.
Furthermore, they were taught to create appropriate annual or periodic budgets, writing balance sheets, income/profit and loss statements, managing their cash-flow and the art of saving money to grow their businesses. The Area 2 Matavui Business Association of South Santo was created on day two of the workshop and the elected President is Marina Takasi. Her Vice President is Thomas Potnes.
The workshop participants requested the trainer to return to their village in a trimester to check up on their business adventures and also provide a follow-up training to them.
Dr Thomas’ logistical arrangements were funded by the South Santo Road Works Company of Vuti and Marina Takasi, the company currently constructing the roads at Narango village.
