COVID-19 vaccination simulation exercise today

SHEFA medical staff at the National Convention Centre yesterday

Medical personnel in SHEFA Province will take part in a COVID-19 Vaccination simulation exercise today.

Manager of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) within Vanuatu Public Health, Simon Samson, said this is reserved mainly for nurses at Vila Central Hospital, Efate and offshore islands who will be trained on how to approach an individual during the vaccination program.

He said the simulation exercise will prepare the medical staff for the first rollout which will start on the 2nd of June. The EPI manager said the AstraZeneca vaccine will be officially launched on the 1st of June, before vaccination starts the following day.

Samson said that they will inform people who have registered during the past days where to be vaccinated but he is hopeful the vaccination will be at National Convention Centre. Yesterday was the last day of training for medical personnel since Monday.

“We are now ready to implement what we have learned during the training and the simulation exercise,” Samson concluded.
