The 23-year-old who has tested positive for COVID-19 has been transferred out from the quarantine site to the Vila Central Hospital (VCH) Isolation Ward yesterday night.

Doctor Vincent Atua who is based at the Emergency Ward and responsible for COVID-19 with the Taskforce confirmed the transfer.

He said the management of the hotel where the case has been staying at, have given the Task Force and Health authorities Friday 13 (yesterday) as the deadline, to have the young man transferred out as hotel staff have been stigmatised.

Dr. Atua confirmed that they have police to provide security and a shelter will be erected for the officers.

Meanwhile, the Taskforce is negotiating for the newly extended 28-days quarantine period to be reduced to at least three weeks.

While they are committed to adhering to the current plan for 28 days as announced by the Prime Minister, they are "hoping to relax the situation".

The case will continue to remain in isolation. He will be discharged from isolation only if he gets negative results on samples taken at least 24 hours apart.
