The Task Force responsible for preparations towards this year’s 40th Independence Anniversary is aiming to create spectacular fireworks display never seen before in the Capital on the night of July 30.

The Chinese Embassy in Port Vila has decided to help the government and people celebrate the country’s birth with a Vt4million cheque for fireworks.

Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, Zhou Haicheng, presented the cheque to the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister of Internal Affairs, Alatoi Ishmael Kalsakau.

National Coordinator of the 40th Independence Anniversary, Fred Samuel, said this year’s fireworks will be bigger than past celebrations.

He said they want to organize fireworks not only in Port Vila but Luganville and other five provincial centres for the first time this year.
