Chief says VNPF applications too slow

Applicants push for their cheques at the entrance of VNPF

A custom chief of Torba Province has criticized the delay to pay cheques to members of the Vanuatu National Provident Fund (VNPF) in line with their requests to apply for personal loans against their savings application.

What he does not understand is as he explains, “We all have our VNPF ID Cards so it does not seem that difficult to approve of our applications and deduct the amounts from each member’s saving.

“While I understand the importance of doing the right thing but this is also a national emergency so I think they should treat our applications as part a national emergency which it is”.

The chief was observing the crowd as it pushed to collect its cheques at the entrance yesterday and called me to express his frustration.
