Canada requests Vanuatu's support towards Ontario's observers status at La Francophonie

High Commissioner of Canada to Vanuatu, Paul Andrew Maddison

Canada through the new High Commissioner to Vanuatu, Paul Andrew Maddison has requested Vanuatu to support Ontario’s bid to seek observer status at the Organisation

International de la Francophonie (OIF).

The High Commissioner made the request recently when he presented his Letter of Credence to the Head of State.

High Commissioner Maddison said Ontario has a large francophone population, just over 600,000 people, adding, “we hope that Vanuatu supports Ontario’s desire to gain observer status at OIF”.

The OIF is composed of 80 states or governments — 54 full members, 23 observers and three associates — across five continents.
