Adult supervision urged during end of year school parties

Any student caught consuming alcohol and smoking during end of year school parties must be dealt with, the Director of Education Services, Samuel Katipa, has warned.

“Adult supervision, especially teachers, must be implied in any picnics or function to avoid alcohol consumption and smoking,” he said.

“Any principals breaching this instruction must be reported to the Provincial Education Officers or the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET).”

Director Katipa reminded all school principals and teachers to provide a safe environment for students to sit exams and celebrate class and school end of year parties.

“All principals are reminded not to withdraw or suspend examination years’ students for outstanding school fees,” he emphasized.

“All students have the right to sit examinations and assessments.

“Under the COVID-19 State of Emergency (SOE), there are further instructions for strict compliance to COVID-19 applied in schools, during the administration of all national examinations.

“All schools must adhere strictly to the measures issued by the Ministry of Health (MoH).”

All Education Authority Board, School Councils, Principals, Teachers and Parents are acknowledged for contributing in one way or another in providing quality education to students this academic year.
