Another suspected case of COVID-19

A new suspected case of COVID-19 has been reported by the Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday.

According to the Coronavirus Situation Report number 10 issued yesterday, the suspect is currently in isolation.

The report conveyed that sample from the suspected case has been sent to Noumea, New Caledonia for testing along with seven other samples from individuals who displayed some symptoms but are not considered to be suspected cases.

These seven samples are being tested as precautionary measures only, according to the report.

So far, Vanuatu has reported two suspected cases.

The first one was tested negative for COVID-19 while the recent one is awaiting lab test result.

A suspected case does not mean the person has the virus. A diagnostic testing is required to confirm whether the symptoms are negative or positive.

Meanwhile, there is still no confirmed case of COVID-19 in Vanuatu.
