2016 marathon: VARTC CEO will compete in same marathon

By Len Garae

Chief Executive Officer of Vanuatu Agricultural Research Training Centre (VARTC), Muriel Degobert is going to fly the Vanuatu flag in the 2017 half marathon of Noumea on August 27.

Make no mistake Degobert took part in the Paris half marathon in 2015 and has prepared for three months for this year’s 21 kilometre race in the French Territory.

While she had completed the half-marathon of Paris in 2015 in two hours and six minutes, the avid marathoner is determined to complete this one in Noumea in two hours and twenty minutes.

She says the weather in the Pacific is warmer and more humid than in Paris (which may have an impact on her timing).

She is proud to represent the Research Centre and the Republic of Vanuatu at the international race!

May the Productive Sector especially the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forests, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MALFFB) and all marathon fans in the country wish the VARTC CEO all

the best in her race on August 27.
