Vanuatu will be one of the Oceania countries participating for the first time in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) to be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from 17 to 27 September.
This was made possible through a Memorandum signed by the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, with OCA President, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah; ONOC President, Dr Robin Mitchell and Chairman of the AIMAG 2017 Executive Committee, Dayanch Gulgeldiyev.
This Memorandum confirmed that athletes from 17 nations and seven Associate Members in the Oceania region will participate in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) for the very first time in Turkmenistan in 2017.
Vanuatu will participate in Athletics, Taekwondo and Tennis.
Team Vanuatu is made up total of 19 people, 13 Athletes and 4 Officials. VASANOC President and Secretary General will join the team later for the opening ceremony and return early.
The Team departs Vila on Monday 11 September and retursn on Mon 1 October and will be led by VASANOC CEO and Team Chef De Mission, Henry Tavoa.
