Vanuatu Tennis is proud to host for the first time ever a junior international tennis tournament: the Vanuatu Junior International Open. Players from all around the globe, such as the Pacific Region, Australia, New Zealand, the United-States of America, the Philippines, Vietnam, Korea, China, Russia and even Latvia, will come to compete here, boys and girls, in Port-Vila, at the Korman tennis courts.
The Vanuatu Tennis Federation invites the media and the public to come and witness a great level of tennis, and to support eleven of our national players, representing our home country.
For the boys, the top seed is Vanuatu’s own Clement Mainguy, currently ranked 806 (ITF ranking) internationally. He will be competing alongside eight other boys from Vanuatu.
Coming all the way from Latvia (Eastern Europe), Rudolfs Aksenoks is the fourth seed in this tournament, ranked at 1002 (ITF ranking) internationally. He will certainly be one of the most promising players here.
Jade Otway, the second seed for the girls, currently ranked 1067 on the ITF leader board, and also a kiwi, will definitely be a force to be reckoned with and put up a great challenge for the other players, including the two Vanuatu girls, Naomi Sipiti and Ajah Pritchard Lolo.
Another promising competitor, and probably the youngest amongst them, Solomon’s Zorika Morgan will be making an appearance here, as well as twelve others from the Pacific region, including Vanuatu. After all, islanders are family.
This “grade 5” tournament is the perfect opportunity for these competitors to either gain points for the first time in their young tennis career, or to improve their current ranking and make their way up the ITF leader board. The honour is ours to welcome the twenty six players coming from overseas: a great level of tennis will be expected here at Korman throughout the whole of next week!
The Vanuatu International Junior Open is organised by the Vanuatu Tennis Federation with a fantastic support from Azure Pure Water our Platinum Sponsor, The Vanuatu Sports Commission, Vanuatu Agricultural Supplies and Pacific Energy. Our players will be accommodated at the Cocomo Resort.
