VCA President Mark Stafford (right) welcomes new High Performance Manager/Coach, Shane Deitz

The Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA) is very pleased to announce that Shane Deitz is appointed as our High Performance Manager and National Coach.

“The VCA is proud to welcome Shane and undoubtedly Shane brings a lot of coaching experience to Vanuatu to help us further develop our sport,” said VCA President Mark Stafford.

Stafford further stated that the selection panel received more than 50 excellent applications from all over the world. “We are very pleased that so many well-credentialed candidates showed an interest in Vanuatu Cricket. However, we were greatly impressed with Shane Deitz’s presentation at final interview. Despite the quality of the other candidates, we have no hesitation in offering the position to Shane. Shane has also coached in Bangladesh; UK; Netherlands and New Zealand and he played cricket for South Australia. Shane says that, “It is an honour and a privilege to work for the Vanuatu Cricket Association at an exciting time for Cricket in the East Asia Pacific region.”

“Vanuatu has a rich cricket history and being the ‘Happiest place on Earth’ I am now proud to be a part of. It is my hope to continue to build upon the hard work that has already been established in improving the profile and performance of Cricket in Vanuatu domestically and on the international stage. I am very thankful for the opportunity and aim to work closely with the VCA in achieving cricket success on and off the field”, said Shane Deitz.

Pierre Chilia, the VCA General Manager said, “I am pleased to have someone with Shane’s background to help move the VCA forward given that he will be a hands-on and very active coach. Shane will take charge of the preparation of the Digicel Vanuatu Cricket teams starting this month.”

The preparation for the Pepsi ICC EAP T20 Cricket Trophy in Lismore, NSW will be Shane’s first priority. Shane’s other priorities include the preparation of World Cricket League Division 6 in 2015, ICC EAP U19 World Cup Qualifier in Blenheim, NZ and Pacific Games in PNG 2015. He will also have control of the ANZ High Performance Program, the VCA’s elite development activity.

The Board of the VCA welcomes Shane Deitz to the Vanuatu cricket family.

The support of the VCA’s major sponsor, Digicel, and, other significant sponsors and partners such as ANZ Vanuatu; Natora Ltd; Barrett & Partners; Vanuatu Post; Vanuatu Government, the International Cricket Council; Australian Government (through PSP) helps make it possible for the VCA to continue to produce quality elite teams and individuals and fantastic Community Development and Outreach Programs. The Board of the VCA wishes to thank everyone that supports us in our endeavors to keep on improving, in all areas, all of the time.
