TVL Major Sponsor of the 2018 World Cup

Telecom Vanuatu Limited (TVL) has partnered with the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation to be the major sponsor of the 2018 World Cup.

In a press statement, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TVL, Divik Deo, said “It gives TVL immense pleasure to bring the World Cup together live and direct from Russia, to this soccer crazy nation.

“From the North to the South, living rooms to nakamals, tea breaks to lunches, in buses and cars, the people of Vanuatu- the young and old, the boys and the girls, the men and women- from all works of life will join in excess of 3.5 billion people around the world (that is approximately half of the world’s population) to celebrate the most widely viewed sporting event on the face of the planet.

“Once upon a time in 1994, when the World Cup was broadcasted for the very first time in my home county –Fiji, an 8-year-old boy was so inspired with what he saw that we went on to represent the country in soccer. He practiced and perfected the art of playing soccer (and the occasional theatrics which come with this beautiful game). He went places! This is a true story and I hope that the 2018 World Cup inspires as many children and youth of our country so that one day they too will also represent Vanuatu and the tables will be turned- Vanuatu 3 Germany 2 at the Under 17 World Cup in future. We shall look forward to that day."

Deo said that whether it is the television set or the smartphone, the people of Vanuatu are sure to be gripped by the beautiful game and be connected through a unifying theme of celebration just like how TVL connects people from the North to the South on Vanuatu’s largest and fastest network!
