Team Vanuatu started off its campaign at the Pacific Games in Samoa with wins from the men’s cricket team, women’s table tennis, men’s table tennis and men’s beach volleyball.

In men’s cricket, the Vanuatu Cricket Association reported that Vanuatu defeated New Caledonia by 10 wickets.

Simpson Obed was selected as ‘man of the match’

The next game for the team yesterday afternoon was to face rivals, Papua New Guinea but the poor weather condition did not permit this to happen.

On the other hand, the Vanuatu Association of Sports And National Olympic Committee reports that the table tennis women’s team won two games against Tuvalu and Tonga.

In both games, the ladies outclassed both Tuvalu and Tonga players by 5-0.

Vanuatu’s men’s table tennis team also won the match against Solomon Islands with a score of 5-0.

And in men’s beach volleyball, Vanuatu defeated Nauru by 2-0.

So far, so good for Team Vanuatu as the momentum is built in these sport disciplines towards the fight for a medal.
