On Thursday Jan 11, Van2017 met with the staff and management of the Vanuatu Culture Centre for a handover ceremony of games artifacts and memorabilia.

In the items was the Van2017 SAGOA which was the emblematic calling conch shell that travelled throughout the country in the lead up to the 2017 Pacific Mini Games

Richard Shing, Director of the Cultural Centre thanked Van2017 for the items, and indicated that the Museum will safely protect these artifacts and ensure that the spirit of the Games will live on in some form of exhibit that will be developed to honor the memory of these Games.

Clint Flood CEO of Van2017 said it was fitting that the SAGOA was coming back to the Cultural Centre given that the VKS ensured that the design obtained kastom approval and that its journey throughout the country was launched officially from the Chief’s Nakamal across from the Cultural Centre.

Mr. Flood praised the vision of Van2017 staff for coming up with this unique way to bring the spirit of the Games to all reaches of this country, and noted that the SAGOA was indeed well travelled having gone to all six provinces and was

touched by thousands of pairs of hands in its journey. Mr. Flood also thanked the

Government of Vanuatu and the Government of Australia for their contributions towards the support of this national awareness program, and hoped that if indeed the 2027 Pacific Games possibly come to Vanuatu that the SAGOA can come out of its resting place to celebrate the next major event in this country.

Van2017 will be providing the Cultural centre with more artifacts in the next month,

including photos and is expected that Nasi and Em Pawa the Games mascots will take up permanent residency there.
