Lambert Maltock, president of Vanuatu Football Federation officially opened the Northern Region Technical Centre longside, the Director General of the Youth and Sport, William Nasak, on Tuesday.
The ceremony took place at the academy in Luganville Soccer Stadium, fully funded by FIFA with the support of Oceania Football Confederation, said VFF President, Mr. Lambert Maltock.
“Today we have the full country here in Luganville, Santo for the opening of our second football Academy,” said Maltock.
“I am a happy man today because we have achieved the dreams of many late executive members who passed away like late President, Tensley Lulu.
“Lulu would like to see a Academy in the Northern Region and today we gather here to officially open it and it is always proper to show them a one minute silence.
“I also would like to thank our hard working friend Glenn Turner for his willingness to help Vanuatu Football to have another football academy for the kids in the Northern Region.
“On behalf of Vanuatu Football family, I take this opportunity to thank Glenn Turner and Shaun Easthope for their contribution and support towards Vanuatu Football.
“Today we have two football technical centres in Vanuatu and one of my executive discussion is to have technical centers in all eight football associations in Vanuatu.
“I personally thank FIFA for their financial support towards this important project and I am sure they will continue to support our development plan if we continue to work hard together,” he said.
FIFA and OFC Development Officer, Mr. Glenn Turner congratulated Vanuatu Football for their second technical centre in Luganville, Santo.
“It is a pleasure to attend another milestone in the development of football in Vanuatu today,” said Glenn Turner.
“OFC and FIFA Vice President, Mr. David Chung also congratulated Vanuatu Football Federation for its new centre and he sent his apologies because he is now attending an important FIFA meeting in Zurich.
“Congratulation to VFF under the leadership of president Lambert Maltock for realizing the goal five project,” Said David Chung, OFC President.
“Another positive step forward in the vision- To decentralize football in Vanuatu.
“It is now important that the Northern Region Technical Centre is brought to life.
“It is an excellent football facility in Vanuatu and I know that will increase activities especially for the grassroots for boys and girls and provide opportunities to grow the game.
“From OFC, we wish VFF and the Northern Region Technical Centre all the best wishes and have a great occasion on this special day,” OFC President Chung said.
The Provincial Government of Sanma, Luganville Municipality and Vanuatu Government representatives also delivered their speeches and congratulated Vanuatu Football for the new technical centre fully funded by FIFA.
