Minister for Youth Development and Sports, Seoule Simeon has officially announced that a budget of Vt31 Million has been allocated as athlete incentive for the Samoa 2019 Pacific Games.
Minister Simeon made this announcement at the handing over of the Cash Cheque for the 16 participating National Federations for the Samoa 2019 Pacific Games at the VASANOC Haus in Port Vila this week.
In his official Speech, the Minister Seoule assured all present that participating athlete who perform well at the Samoa Games will receive cash incentive.
“I would like to assure athletes that, a total of Vt31 Million has been budgeted as incentive for those who perform well to winning medals. The Government will always be here to support you”, the Minister said.
While handing over the cash cheque for each participating National Federation (NF), Minister Simeon said he understood that all participating NFs and athletes are excited for the upcoming Games and will be putting more efforts in their trainings, however, government would like to support in providing Vt1 Million to support them in their trainings.
“This is the Pacific Games and not Pacific Mini Games, therefore, I understand that we are all looking forward to display a high standard game in Samoa. I am appealing to those responsible for our athletes to take good care of them while in Samoa. Be ambassadors of Vanuatu- fly our flag high”.
The Minister also said that he is expecting good performance from our athletes. He also wish all Participating NFs all the best in their trainings and for the upcoming games in Samoa and is looking forward for some breakthrough for medals winning in this Samoa Games.
In his response, President of VASANOC, Antoine Boudier acknowledged support from the Government to continue to developing Sports as well as to support the participating NF’s for their trainings.
Present at the handing over were the DG of the Ministry for Youth and Sport- Henry Vira, Director for Youth and Sport- Johnson Toa, President of VASANOC- Antoine Boudier, CEO of VASANOC- Henry Tavoa, CEO of Vanuatu National Sports Commission- Trevor Toka, Team Managers, Coaches/ representative for the 16 NF’s, and staff from
the VASANOC, Vanuatu National Sports Commission, Vanuatu National Youth Council, and Department/ Ministry for Youth and Sports.
The 16 NFs are; Soccer (Men/Women); Beach Volleyball (Men/Women), Tennis, Table Tennis, 3x3 Basketball (men/women); Athletics, Cricket, Golf, Judo, Weightlifting, Sailing, Swimming, Boxing, Archery, Taekwondo and Para Sports.
A total of Vt6 million has been allocated for the participating 16 NFs.
