The Vanuatu Cricket Association has had a great start to the women’s cricket season this year with six(6) competitive teams. The Barrett & Partners Women’s T20 Club competition last weekend saw Mele Bulls defeat APT Dolphins in the grand final.

At the Vanuatu Cricket Ground (VCG) last weekend, Mele Bulls won by 6/121 against APT Dolphins 6/120. APT Dolphins won the toss and elected to bat first sending in captain Meriel Kenni smashing 47off 49 balls and young star Rachelle Tari 21 off 32 ball with team support. However, wickets continued to fall with destructive bowling attack from the Bulls, Leimara Tastuki 2/19 and Valenta Langiatu 2/27.

In reply, Mele Bulls showed no sympathy for the Dolphins. Leimara Tastuki a quick 25 off 27 and Valenta Langiatu 34 off 24 proved to be too good for the bowlers. APT showed some destructive fielding attack with Meriel Kenni 4/21. At just 15 overs, Mele Bulls managed to exceed the target score. The player of the match was Merrielle Kenni for scoring the highest runs, taking 4 wickets and exceptional fielding throughout the match.
