Holiday Inn Vanuatu Coach Lionel Harbin conducting school visit

Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu has returned and increased sponsorship of the Pacific Advisory Vanuatu Rugby League (VRL) for the upcoming historic Test Match vs the Solomon Islands in Honiara, Solomon Islands on Saturday 21st October 2017. In addition to the team sponsorship, a sponsorship of the Head Coach will also be known as the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu Head Coach.

“The double sponsorship by the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu will not only enable the team to travel to and tour the Solomon Islands but it has also allowed for the best possible preparation for the team and also do some much needed community work” explains VRL President Tom Carlo. “The sponsorship of the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu Head Coach Lionel Harbin has allowed him to travel to Port Vila to conduct a pre-camp with the Vanuatu based players in the evening and conduct community visits in the daytime.”

The Gold Sponsorship will see Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu, one of the leading resorts in Vanuatu and known as Vanuatu’s best family resort where experiences are created and memories made feature on the back of the players jersey and polo shirts in addition to the naming rights of the Head Coach. Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu was a Gold sponsor in 2016 and has increased investment in the VRL for 2017 with the double sponsorship.

“We are excited about the opportunity the sponsorship with the VRL brings from the perspective of both playing and promoting Vanuatu on the international stage to engaging with the local community within Vanuatu” stated Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu’s General Manager Simon Douthett. “We’ve enjoyed hosting Head Coach Lionel Harbin to enable him to not only coach the team but take rugby league into the local schools and community. We wish the team all the best in the Solomon Islands.”

Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu Head Coach Lionel Harbin was busy during his time in Port Vila, commencing training with the team on 11th October and conducting some school and community visits to promote rugby league. Lionel also took time out to run a combined sport training session with members of Vanuatu rugby league, netball and cricket teams. The team is now continuing preparations in the Solomon Islands having arrived on Wednesday 18th October.

A range of player sponsorships to support the players to get to Solomon Islands are still available, please contact the VRL for more information on vanuaturl@outlook.com
