Flamingo still the defending champion over 7 years

Flamingo Netball Club, the defending champion for over seven years in the Luganville Netball Association (LNA) has defended its position again in this year’s Independence tournament by winning the game against Concord netball club in the independence finals on July 29.

Concord Club came second with silver medals and Siaraga club third with bronze. The Luganville Municipality was the main sponsor of the tournament.

Flamingo has also proven itself in this year’s opening tournament by maintaining the first position and running away with a sum of Vt7,000 sponsored by the league itself while Siaraga came second receiving Vt5,000 and Concord Vt3,000. LNA President Mrs Genevive Sara said that even though the league has only four registered teams as usual in the past years, they keep running programs to keep up netball in the northern town.

She said this weekend’s games will end championship round one games and should continue round two next week.

She encourages existing players to encourage more young players to involve in this game in order to promote this game not only in the northern town but the region.
