“Vanuatu Beach Volleyball program has an amazing program where Vanuatu is doing a fantastic job of developing not just players and coaches but also the officials in trying to raise them up even to the highest level”, were the words of international referee Catriona Tweedie currently visiting our shores.

Seventeen participants were part of the national referee intensive training hosted by Vanuatu Beach Volleyball Federation at both the Netball Centre conference room and the Beach Volleyball site this week.

International Volleyball Referee from Australia Catriona Tweedie told Daily Sports that she was here in Port Vila to train the technical officials for the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.

“On Monday 2nd October 2017, the participants went through the rules and regulations in a referees’ course. While next two days covered theory and practical sessions for referees at the Netball Centre, and inclusive of detailed practical sessions for scorers and line judging of the discipline at the Beach Volleyball site.

“We already have on ground some very good referees, some good scorers and some good line judges.

“I am satisfied at what I was seeing as there is tremendous potential from them in these areas”, Referee Tweedie says.

Thursday and Friday this week saw game events focusing more on the overall practical aspect of elements taught from the first three-day sessions.

The international visiting referee remarked with confidence about absolute future potential in Vanuatu’s technical officials beyond Vanuatu’s Mini Games that are capable of extending their expertise in officiating in competitions abroad.
