Dear Editor,

My name is Waniel Stanislas and I am from Wala Island where the Malekula Port of Call is located.

I am happy that tourist boats visit my island to provide work for my people.

I am a chief of Lowo and my concern is that my younger brother almost died from fish poisoning.

I am concerned that when the ship anchors in the bay, I think its anchor damages the coral and the coral contaminates marine life including fish that are caught and eaten.

I think a wharf should be built to allow a tourist boat to anchor properly without damaging the reef.

I think the reef becomes poisonous when damaged and the fish feed on it to sustain marine life. Fish become poisoned. That is my concern.

Thank you,

Waniel Stanislas
