Dear Editor,

It has come to my attention that dengue fever virus type 2 has evidently become a threat to the lives of Vanuatu people.

As a concerned citizen, I am therefore writing this letter to urge the Ministry of Health or non government organizations within the country to act immediately by reaching out to all communities in Port Vila and Luganville as well as outer islands to bring awareness on preventative measures that would help minimize the impacts of this imminent epidemic.

The distribution of mosquito nets along with awareness will help rural people to swiftly act as part of primary health care.

Rural communities must also be encouraged to keep their yards clean and mosquito breeding sites such as empty containers, bottles, drums, tins and materials that can hold water must be destroyed.

Thank you.
