By Anita Roberts

Each of the players of the Vanuatu men’s football team have received Vt20,000 cash from the Minister of Education and Training (MoET), Jean Pierre Nirua, to support their participation in the Pacific Mini Games.

Minister Nirua is the patron for the Vanuatu men’s football team.

A source close to the minister said he (Minister Nirua) also promise good pay if the boys demonstrate professional performance and lead Vanuatu in contention for the top spot.

When handing over the donations Minister Nirua told the football team: “You are a model to the children of Vanuatu.

“This donation is from the MoET on behalf of all your parents ,all citizens of Vanuatu and children who want their heroes to perform well and secure gold.”

The MoET now has a new uniform for all its staff to wear to show their support for the men’s football team.

The staff including the minister have been wearing their uniforms with pride since the men’s football team played their first game.
