The Vanuatu Broadcasting & Television Corporation (VBTC) has announced Telecom Vanuatu Limited (TVL) as the major sponsor of its Exclusive Television Broadcast in Vanuatu for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
It’s also announced Wilco Hardware and Colgate Palmolive as Associate sponsors of the exclusive coverage on Television Blong Vanuatu. VBTC has secured the exclusive television broadcast rights for the Vanuatu territory for the 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP in Russia from June 15-July 16.
It has also acquired the rights for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay from August 5 to 25 and the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in France from November 13 to December 1.
This means that Television Blong Vanuatu is the ONLY television station legally licensed to transmit live coverage of the three FIFA World Cup events in Vanuatu and is required underthe terms of its exclusive license to protect FIFA’s broadcast rights in the Vanuatu territory.
VBTC’s Chief Executive Officer, Francis Herman, says Television Blong Vanuatu will provide free and live coverage to as much of Vanuatu as technically possibly can. TBV’s television broadcasts will include the opening and closing ceremonies along with all matches and daily highlight packages of all three FIFA World Cup events.
“The signal for Television Blong Vanuatu’s transmission will be expanded to areas outside of Port Vila and Luganville in time for the opening of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia with
transmitters being air freighted from Italy,” Herman said.
Coverage of these three FIFA World Cup events will also be extensively covered on VBTC’s network of radio stations including its national public service station Radio Vanuatu and its
sister station Paradise FM. Our coverage is only made possible through the generous sponsorship of Telecom Vanuatu Limited as major sponsor and the associate sponsorship of Colgate Palmolive and Wilco Hardware.
