The Vanuamadia has launched its National Digital TV service in Luganville, Santo, on Friday.

The Vanuamadia signal coverage is expected to cover the areas of Luganville, Malo/Aore, North West Malekula, West Ambae and West Coast Pentecost.

Vanuamadia says it will provide its service to the areas of East coast Santo as far as Port Olry before Christmas.

Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai, told the people of Luganville that the National Digital TV service must reach all the islands of Vanuatu before the Pacific Mini Games next year.

He said that is the wish of the current government to see all islands have access to the service before the Games.

Mr. Salwai said it is a must for all viewers throughout the country to have access to the service.

He said the Office of the Government Chief Information officer (OGCIO) together with the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation (VBTC) are working hand in hand to make sure the flow of information can reach everyone in the country.

Acting Lady Mayor for Luganville, Serah Pikoune, says VBTC has already been providing servicing to the People of the Northern Provinces when it has its Santo-based Studio 5 North set up in Luganville.

The launching began with a parade with a number of government ministers and delegation who travelled to Luganville for the event.
